Opening Reception Tomorrow Saturday, Dec 7 at 2 p.m.

The paintings are installed and tomorrow Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m. is the opening of Layers: Stories of Time and Place. I am looking forward to see you there. Exhibition view: Layers: Stories of Time and Place by Jacqueline Steudler From the Press Release: In the exhibition, Steudler presents a series of artworks that represent her experience of travel, loss, meditation, questions of belonging, and the many layers of life itself.  Steudler’s large paintings have been created over the last ten month using mixed media approaches and foremost water-soluble oil paints. You might be reminded of a bird’s-eye view, flying over fields of grass and corn. If you are familiar with Steudler’s work you will find her bold colour combinations in her new work again, although somewhat muted due to the use of very thin layers of oil paint.

Nocturne - Art at Night 2013: Time and Space

Saturday October 19 th , from 6pm-Midnight. At the Art Sales & Rental Gallery, Hollis Street, Halifax You can find me at the Gallery from 7:30 - 8:15 p.m. The main event of the evening will be a live, large-scale, collaborative drawing . The drawing will incorporate the postures, interactions and movement of the viewers in the gallery space as subject matter. The piece will develop throughout the night as several artists consecutively draw their own interpretation of the gallery in a 45 minute time frame. Through a process of reductive and additive gestural mark-making, each artist will be articulating the surrounding space and responding to the visual information provided by the previous artist. Creating a work that is a multivalent, collaborative construction of space. This work will then be draw via raffle to a community member at the end of the evening to incorporate it into their own space. You may fill out one raffle ticket per person as you visit the galler...

But in order to find other than what it searched for.” On a recent visit to the Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years, 1953-1966 exhibition at San Francisco’s De Young fine arts museum , I was taken with a small, simple sheet of paper handed to visitors, printed on which were the artists’ ten rules for beginning a painting — a sort of manifesto that read more...
