Creative Nova Scotia Awards Celebration

Finissage

What a great turn out this afternoon! Many enjoyed to rearrange, take down, put back up, select paintings, and made some last moment adjustments. In the end it was up to me to take it all down. Hard task after two month of continues interaction. Thank you all at the Ross Creek Centre for your help and support. Thank you Katimavik members and Lindsey. Chris O'Neill and Ken Schwartz you are the best!

Sunday, April 29 from 12-4 pm at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, Canning

What a great experience the Interaction Art Project has brought into my life. First the idea, the planning, the creative process, the hanging problems, the solutions, the help, the installation, the interaction and rearranging, the smiles on people faces, the coming back to it over and over, the hesitation, the fearless ones, the openness, the colours, shapes, and feedback. Thank you to all the participants. Filled with joy I invite you to come out on   Sunday, April 29 from 12 - 4 p.m.   to play and have fun by rearranging the 480 miniature paintings. It is the last day for Interaction at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts and coincides with the Community Arts Sunday (art activities for all ages) and the International Dance Day. Hope to see you there. Move it with Us

Have you rearranged it yet?

Interaction by Jacqueline Steudler still up until April 29, 2012 come and play as well

A Day with the Children

Last week was March Break filled with art activities at the Ross Creek Centre. The children and camp staff where rearranging the installation with lots of enthusiasm. Here the slideshow/movie:

Interaction in full swing.

March Break at Ross Creek

This week I'm in the gallery at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts. All the March Break children have taken over the studios. I'm greeting them in the gallery twice a day for interaction and rearranging of the paintings. It is lots of fun to see their ideas unfold.

Opening Reception at Ross Creek Centre

Sunday, March 4th! A day I had waited for for so long. And here I was at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts hoping that visitors would take the opportunity to interact with the moveable paintings. I should not have worried at all. Adult and children alike started to rearrange the small paintings right away. Look for yourself. I'm still smiling. Thank you to all that came out.

Installation of Interaction - The Movie

Finally the movie is here for you to see how Bill and I installed the Interaction Project. I was glad that it worked out so well. Stud sensor be blessed. Tomorrow I will upload the movie of the opening reception from last Sunday. Enjoy:

Opening on March 4

Interaction by Jacqueline Steudler March 4th – April 27th, 2012 Opening Reception: Sunday, March 4th    12 to 4pm Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is pleased to present Jacqueline Steudler’s solo exhibition “Interaction.” This show consists of an impressive 586 mutable miniature paintings that examine the dialogue between the artwork and viewer. Steudler, who has close ties to Ross Creek since 2008, has chosen this site as the ideal space for her work because of the Centre’s place as a creative community hub. In this exhibition, Steudler subverts the common perception that painting is mostly a visual experience. In fact, she encourages viewers to “play” with her paintings by rearranging them to produce new colour combinations and varying compositions. In March, the public will have the rare opportunity to observe the artist-in-residence at work in the gallery. Steudler will photograph the fleeting moments of shape and light visible in her paintings over...
